The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Troy University proudly celebrated National SBDC Day 2025 with a community-focused event held at the Elba Chamber of Commerce. The celebration brought together local leaders, business owners, and residents to recognize the critical role that SBDCs play in supporting small business success across the country.

The event featured remarks from Elba Mayor Tom Maddox, Sandy Bynum Williams, President of the Elba Chamber of Commerce, and Juliana Bolivar, Director of the SBDC at Troy University. Attendees included small business owners from across the region, local pageant queens, and community stakeholders—all joining in to honor the achievements of entrepreneurs and the support system that helps them thrive.
SBDC client businesses treated guests to a vibrant spread catered by Rike’s Tacos, and a stunning three-tier cake inspired by downtown storefronts, handcrafted by My Sweet Havana. The event was captured by Michelle Martinez, owner of Swoon and Bloom Photography, who documented the energy and spirit of the day.
“I’m grateful for the partnership and the opportunity to find support for my community through the SBDC,” Williams said. “This kind of collaboration makes all the difference for those looking to start or expand a business in our area.”
Maddox proclaimed the day “SBDC Day in Elba” as part of a nationwide celebration of the SBDC Centers and the work they do with small businesses throughout the country.

“SBDC Day is a reminder of how far small businesses can go with the right support,” said Bolivar. “We’re honored to serve this region, helping entrepreneurs navigate challenges, grow sustainably, and connect with capital and expertise.”
