Trustee Charles Nailen of Dothan

Troy University Trustee Charles Nailen will deliver the keynote address at Troy University’s Dothan Campus Fall Commencement on Sunday, Dec. 14, in the Dothan Civic Center.

Nearly 100 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Nailen has served on the University’s Board of Trustees since 2003. An entrepreneur and respected member of the local business community, he and his wife, Kay, were owners of BBG Specialty Foods, Inc., a franchise of Taco Bell Corporation, and GGG Foods, Inc., a franchise of KFC Corporation. They operated restaurants in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Currently, in addition to his work with the TROY Trustees, Nailen serves as chairman of the Dothan Airport Authority; is a member of the Board Of Directors of the Public Affairs Research Council Of Alabama (PARCA) where he currently serves as Vice President; and is a member of the Personnel Committee of Wiregrass Church in Dothan.

He has been active in several civic organizations, including the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Fort Rucker Task Force, the Army Aviation Museum Foundation, the Association of the United States Army, and the Business Council of Alabama.

Nailen has received numerous awards throughout his career, among them the Friend of Education Award (Dothan Education Association), Small Business Person of the Year (Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce), the Franchise Leadership Award (Taco Bell Corporation), the Community Service Award (Troy University), and the Outstanding Regional Advisory Committee Chairman Award (Business Council of Alabama). In 2018, he was inducted into the Dothan Business Hall of Fame.

Commencement exercises will begin at 3 p.m. in the Civic Center.
