Dr. Kirk L. Davis has been named Chief Operating Officer for Troy University’s Dothan Campus.

Davis had held the position on an interim basis since the beginning of November.

“Dr. Davis brings tremendous experience to the position of Chief Operating Officer,” said Dr. Kerry Palmer, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. “With a proven track record of leadership at Troy University, Dr. Davis is well equipped to lead our Dothan Campus, and we believe he will serve our Dothan Campus and our university well in this role.”

Dr. Davis called the appointment an honor.

“It’s an honor to be named Chief Operating Officer of TROY’s Dothan Campus and to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Don Jeffrey,” he said. “The Dothan Campus is brimming with potential, and I look forward to new opportunities to grow and expand our reach. I am very optimistic about the positive changes the future holds for us and our students in this corner of the Wiregrass.”

Dr. Davis previously served as Director of Operations for the colleges of Education and Health and Human Services at the Dothan Campus. He began his TROY career at the Dothan Campus in 1998, where he served as the chair for the former Department of Counseling and Psychology. He continues to serve as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychology.

In 2014, Dr. Davis accepted an appointment as the chair for the Division of Psychology before being promoted in 2016 to the Director of International Programs for the College of Education, a position that gave him the opportunity to teach in Malaysia on two separate occasions and host and teach more than 30 visiting Chinese scholars. He has been named the Outstanding Faculty Member three times in the College of Education and has served as faculty advisor for Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society for more than a decade.

Dr. Davis earned a B.A. in Psychology (1990) and a M.A. in Social Psychology (1992) from Mississippi State University, followed by a M.S. (1994) and Ph.D. (1997) in Experimental Psychology from the University of Mississippi.
