Held annually each April, Troy University’s Fred B. Davis Scholarship Brunch recognizes the meaningful connections between donors and students, and the lasting impact of their generosity.

There are currently more than 500 active named scholarship funds for the Troy Foundation with some scholarships being awarded to multiple students each year. In 2024, TROY was again able to award over $1 million in Foundation scholarships to over 1,100 individuals.

“This is truly a day to celebrate,” said Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. “Life is not about things, it’s not about portfolios, it’s about relationships. “Two of the most important words are ‘thank you’…and we don’t say those words often enough, particularly to those who are special to us and have helped us along the way. Thank you to our donors, and thank you to our students who give so much of yourselves in making a brighter future.”

Katie Cone, a graduate student and a recipient of the William H. Carr Accountancy Day Award, graduated from TROY with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting in 2024.

“Troy University has profoundly shaped my academic and professional journey over the past five years. I am deeply grateful to be a recipient of the William H. Carr Accountancy Day Scholarship,” she said. “Your support goes far beyond financial assistance; it is a powerful vote of confidence in my potential and my future. You provided me with more than scholarship—you provided me the freedom to pursue my dreams without the weight of financial burden, for which I’m incredibly grateful.”

“Your support year after year not only provided me the financial means to pursue my education, it has also served as a continuous source of inspiration and encouragement. Each scholarship I received during my time at TROY reflects the trust you’ve placed in me, and it’s through your kindness and commitment to students like myself that I’ve reached this point in my academic career.”

In addition to private donors and organizations, a large supporter of the Troy Foundation is the Alumni Association. More than 10 chapters have established endowed scholarships, with additional scholarships in progress.

This year, the Alumni Association Board of Directors and alumni chapters banded together and raised $55,277 in support of scholarships and academic initiatives.

“Great things are happening at Troy University because of you—the donors and the young people here today,” said Judge Jack Weaver, Alumni Association President. “When I look down at my nametag, it says ‘Judge Jack Weaver,’ but it also says ‘donor.’ How important is it to be donors, to give back to this great institution that gave us so much? It’s always been the goal to make someone’s life better.

“On behalf of the Troy University National Alumni Association, thank you to all the donors. Without you, this doesn’t happen. Without you, students don’t have the opportunity to get an education and make their lives better.”
