Area Jersey Mike's Subs locations will donate proceeds from Wednesday's "Day of Giving" to the Troy University Alumni Association for scholarships.

The Troy University Alumni Association is teaming up with Jersey Mike’s Subs locations in Troy, Montgomery and Prattville on Wednesday, March 27, for the business’ annual “Day of Giving.”

Throughout the month of March, Jersey Mike’s customers at those locations have had the opportunity to round up their purchase with proceeds going to the TROY Alumni Association to help fund scholarships for deserving students. The month will culminate on Wednesday with the annual “Day of Giving” where 100 percent of the day’s sales will go to the Alumni Association.

“Jersey Mike’s has been a tremendous partner for the Alumni Association since they opened here,” said Faith Byrd, Director of Alumni Affairs. “Scholarships are the primary focus for our Alumni Board of Directors, and we are committed to building scholarship funds to help more students. Jersey Mike’s is committed to giving back to the communities they serve and we appreciate their generosity in selecting our scholarship efforts as their focus for this year’s ‘Month of Giving’ campaign.”

Throughout the month of March, customers at Jersey Mike’s locations in Troy, Montgomery and Prattville have had the opportunity to round up their bills to benefit TROY scholarships.

On the Day of Giving, local Jersey Mike’s owners and operators throughout the country will donate their resources and every single dollar that comes in — whether in-store, online or through the app — to more than 200 different charities including hospitals, youth organizations, food banks and more. Nationally, last year’s fundraising effort topped $21 million, and since the Month of Giving began in 2011, Jersey Mike’s has raised more than $88 million for local charities.

“It means a lot to us to be able to give back,” said Nicole Evans, Director of Operations. “This year, we are excited for the proceeds to go to the Troy Alumni Association for scholarships. It is a very heartfelt event, and it is one of the reasons I love Jersey Mike’s as a company and working with the people I do because of the emphasis that is placed on being charitable within the community.”

Jamison Davis, territorial manager, said the “Month of Giving” is something that the company looks forward to every year because of the opportunity to give back.

“This is our Super Bowl. This is what we live for. We talk about it all year round,” Davis said. “I’m a hometown boy, and I know this community. It feels good to be able to give back because Troy University is the heart of this community.”

The Troy, Montgomery and Prattville locations are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Troy location is at 1309 U.S. Highway 231, the Montgomery location is at 7751 Eastchase Parkway and the Prattville location is at 1478 Cotton Exchange Suite A.
