ArtSPARK, a free monthly family event presented by Troy University’s International Arts Center, will return on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Troy Campus.
ArtSPARK is an event where children up to the sixth grade and their parents or care-takers can take part in an art activity led by local art teacher Andrea Pack, enjoy a snack and story time, go on an art scavenger hunt and enjoy the art and beauty of the International Arts Center and the Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park. Adult attendance is required with child participants.

“We hope that local families will plan to join us this Saturday for the beginning of a wonderful new school year and the return of our ArtSPARK fun,” said Carrie Jaxon, the Center’s Director and Curator. “We also will be introducing our new mascot, Sparky, on Saturday. Those wishing to participate can feel free to drop by at any point during this timeframe or stay for the entire time.”
Located in the Janice Hawkins Cultural Arts Park on the Troy Campus, the International Arts Center opened in 2016 and is home to two art galleries, an interpretive center and the university’s graphic design program, which includes a classroom, a computer lab and visiting artist areas.
