One organization stands ready to provide students with a little extra support as they head into the stressful final month of the semester.

Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM) has organized a program to assemble and deliver care packages to students on campus.

“We attempt to hand deliver all the packages so we can meet the students who receive them and share an encouraging word,” says Brad Bensinger, the campus minister. “There have been times we have had the pleasure of praying with a student who may be struggling.”

The packages include school supplies, scripture, and even an encouraging note from the sender. The program has been delivering these care packages to students since the 80’s but was taken over by Bensinger in 1997 and was originally put together before each exam week.

Bensinger says his favorite part of the whole process is seeing the excitement on students’ faces when receiving their package, most especially those who were not expecting one at all.

The program has helped BCM to raise money for several mission trips to reduce student costs, as well as to provide funding for the State Student Missions Program.

Students and parents can purchase a care package for $25 at troybcm.org/care-package.
