To raise funds for a student scholarship, the Rotaract Club of Troy University’s Dothan Campus is hosting the first ever Spring Formal on Friday, April 5 in the Harrison Room of the Dothan Campus.

The formal is open to all TROY students, including TROY Online and the Phenix City, Montgomery and Troy campuses. Rotaract member and Spring Formal Committee Head Taylor Jones said they hope to give the saying “One TROY” new meaning “by having all Troy University students come together on this night as one big collegiate family.”

The theme for the dance is “Neon.” Women are encouraged to wear floor-length formal dresses, and men are encouraged to wear either a tuxedo or khaki pants with a button up shirt and optional blazer.

“I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me achieve this goal at the Dothan Campus. When first pitching the idea of a Spring Formal, I hoped that it would create an opportunity for students to come together and create a closer bond,” Jones said. “Seeing how everything has come together, working with an amazing committee of students and getting to organize this event has been such a great experience. I have truly found my home at Troy University’s Dothan Campus and hope to see everyone find theirs here as well!”

In addition to inviting all TROY students, the Spring Formal Committee has extended the invitation to Wallace Community College, Enterprise State Community College and Chipola College.

“What a great opportunity to bond and make lifelong friends,” said Rotaract Club Sponsor Rachael Cox. “I am excited for this to become an annual event and for it to provide scholarships along the way. Dreams and fun really can work together, and we see that on our campus!”

Tickets are $25/person or $40/couple. The formal begins at 6 p.m. and will feature refreshments, a D.J. and a photographer. Tickets can be purchased online through Venmo @LIJIAT or with cash in the Admissions office at the Dothan Campus, and the deadline to purchase is April 2.
