As one of Alabama's leading transfer-friendly institutions, TROY is committed to making the transition to a four-year degree as seamless as possible.

Each year during National Transfer Student Week, universities across the country recognize the important contributions and achievements of transfer students. At Troy University, transfer students are an integral part of the Trojan Family, bringing unique experiences, perspectives, and talents that strengthen our campuses and communities.

As one of Alabama’s leading transfer-friendly institutions, Troy University is committed to making the transition to a four-year degree as seamless and successful as possible. Through innovative partnerships, dedicated support services, generous scholarship opportunities, and clear transfer pathways, TROY helps students turn previously earned college credit into progress toward a bachelor’s degree and future career success.

A Commitment to Transfer Student Success

Whether students are transferring from a community college, another university, or returning to complete a degree after time away from higher education, Troy University works to ensure that students receive the support they need from application through graduation.

“Our goal is to remove barriers and help students maximize the value of the coursework they’ve already completed,” said Carson Purkapile, Coordinator of Transfer Enrollment. “We understand that every student’s educational journey is unique, and we are committed to helping transfer students find the pathway that best fits their academic and career goals.”

Streamlining the Transfer Process Through Strategic Partnerships

TROY continues to invest in tools and partnerships that make transferring easier and more transparent for students.

One of the university’s key partnerships is with Edvisorly, a technology platform that simplifies credit evaluation and transfer planning. Through this partnership, prospective students can better understand how their previous coursework may transfer to TROY, increasing confidence in the transfer process and helping students make informed enrollment decisions.

The university also actively participates in Alabama Transfers, the statewide transfer and articulation system that helps students move seamlessly from Alabama’s community colleges to public universities throughout the state. Through Alabama Transfers, students can access transfer guides, course equivalencies, and degree pathways designed to keep them on track toward graduation.

These partnerships provide students with greater transparency, fewer surprises, and a more efficient route to earning a bachelor’s degree.

Strong Relationships with Alabama Community Colleges

For decades, Troy University has maintained close partnerships with institutions throughout the Alabama Community College System (ACCS). These relationships help create clear academic pathways that support students as they move from an associate degree program to a bachelor’s degree.

Through collaborative articulation agreements, advising support, recruitment events, campus visits, and transfer initiatives, TROY works closely with community college partners to ensure students understand their transfer options and can confidently plan for the next step in their educational journey.

Many TROY graduates began their college careers at an Alabama community college, demonstrating the important role that transfer pathways play in expanding educational opportunities across the state.

Investing in Students Through Scholarships

To make earning a bachelor’s degree more affordable, Troy University offers a variety of scholarships specifically designed for transfer students.

Among these opportunities is the Presidential Transfer Scholarship, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement among transfer students. The scholarship helps high-performing students continue their educational journey while minimizing the financial burden often associated with completing a four-year degree.  One student from each Alabama community college is eligible for the Presidential Transfer award.

In addition to the Presidential Transfer Scholarship, TROY offers other merit-based transfer scholarship opportunities for transfer honor students through the PTK Scholarship program and other opportunities that reward academic excellence and support student success. These scholarships help ensure that qualified transfer students have access to the financial resources necessary to achieve their educational goals.

Students are encouraged to explore the full range of transfer scholarship opportunities available through the university and to work closely with admissions counselors to identify programs for which they may qualify.
