Phenix City Superintendent Sherrod to deliver commencement address to Phenix City graduates on Jan. 12

Dr. Janet Sherrod, Superintendent of Phenix City Schools, will deliver the keynote address to graduates from Troy University’s Phenix Campus on Jan. 12.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern time, 6 p.m. Central, at the Columbus Georgia Convention and Trade Center. As many as 100 students are expected to take part in the ceremony.

Dr. Sherrod, who was appointed as superintendent last June, brings more than 30 years of educational experience with the majority of those spent in Tuscaloosa City Schools. Prior to her appointment as superintendent, she served as Executive Director of Learning Supports for Tuscaloosa City Schools. Before being appointed superintendent of Phenix City Schools, she served as Executive Director of Learning Supports for Tuscaloosa City Schools. She also has served as both Principal and Assistant Principal at the elementary and middle school level in Tuscaloosa City and Tuscaloosa County Schools. Prior to her roles in administration, Dr. Sherrod taught mathematics in Tuscaloosa County Schools.

In addition to being an educator, she and her husband, Ricky, are co-owners of Northport Funeral and Cremation Services.
