Troy University’s Theatre and Dance Department will begin the 2020-2021 production season with the “Pied Pipers in the Park” event at the Janice Hawkins Park Amphitheatre on the Troy Campus.
This event is scheduled for Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. until noon and is family friendly and open to children of all ages.
It will begin with classic stories performed by the children’s theatre group the Pied Pipers.
Different activity spaces like “Art Space,” for individual arts and crafts, and the “Wiggle and Move” area, which gives little children a chance to play and get their wiggles out, will be open for parents and children to explore. Snacks and drinks will be shared in the “Snacks and Treats” area.
Tori Averett, the department Chair, describes this event as a treat for people looking to relax during the Homecoming weekend.
“This is a great opportunity for families looking for something to do on Saturday for the littlest folks in their families, and it might be an extra special treat for people visiting for homecoming weekend.
“In addition, we are celebrating 50 years of the beloved Pied Pipers children’s ensemble,” she added.
The event will be socially distanced and all attendees are advised to attend with their masks.
“We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe experience, and we ask that everyone pitch in to do what’s best for everyone gathered,” said Averett.
