For the seventh straight year, friends of Troy University worked together to once again surpass the goal set for the University’s annual TROY Giving Day.
Donors raised $444,797 from more than 340 gifts from 27 states—and Canada, France and Germany—in the 24-hour period, exceeding the $300,000 goal.
“We are very thankful for the enthusiastic and generous support from the TROY community we experienced during Giving Day,” said William Filmore, Vice Chancellor of Government and External Relations. “As a result, we were able to raise almost 150 percent of the goal we set for 2024. I also want to thank our Office of Development staff for all their hard work to help us exceed our Giving Day goal again this year.”
Donors were able to designate gifts for scholarships and academic departments in each of the University’s five colleges, as well as to the Alumni Association, athletics and other university initiatives.
Matching gifts were provided by Drs. Heather and Onick Lewis, Jerry and Mary Ida Williams, Donna Horn, Gordon Hummell, Sound of the South Alumni Chapter, Troy University Student Government Association and several anonymous donors.
Challenges were issued by the Troy University Alumni Board of Directors, the Sorrell College of Business, Jason Bennett, Derek Ellington and other anonymous participants.
“I am so appreciative of our TROY family who stepped up to make this year’s Giving Day successful!” said Sydney Owen, Director of Annual Giving and Special Projects. “Thank you to every alum, student, faculty and staff member and friend of Troy University who participated. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we exceeded our goal for a seventh straight year! I am proud to be a TROY Trojan and part of this TROY family, and I hope others share in this pride and continue to support our University.”
