Troy University’s television station is now more accessible with the launch of the TROY TrojanVision app.
For 50 years, TROY TrojanVision has aired on cable TV throughout southeast Alabama. Now viewers can stream newscasts anytime, anywhere on their smartphones and smart TVs, bringing TrojanVision’s coverage to a global audience.
The app will be available through Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, the App Store for Apple devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices.
Aaron Taylor, Director of Television, said it expands TrojanVision’s reach to the world.
“I’m excited for what the students do here to have a worldwide audience,” he said. “We have students that are in the studio doing newscasts every day that are from all over the world. Even though we stream these newscasts, this gives an opportunity for those friends and family to be able to see what’s going on. But the main thing is that I want the programming and the stories that we tell here at TrojanVision to be seen by anyone.”
TROY broadcast journalism students gain hands-on experience by producing live, award-winning newscasts three times a day, five days a week through TrojanVision. In addition to delivering high-quality news coverage, TrojanVision students and staff create a variety of programs highlighting TROY sports, the arts, lectures and other campus events. TrojanVision graduates have gone on to achieve success in television stations and news networks not only across the Southeast but also throughout the United States and internationally.
“The launch of the TrojanVision app marks an exciting step forward for Troy University in expanding our reach and making our content even more accessible,” said Matt Clower, Senior Director of Communications. “This app will allow students, alumni and viewers to stay connected with the latest news, events, and showcase the incredible stories that are happening at TROY.”
