Those in the Montgomery area looking to advance their communications careers will have a new opportunity to take an in-class course from the master’s program in Strategic Communications to help them in their efforts this fall at Troy University Montgomery.
The TROY Montgomery campus, along with TROY’s Hall School of Journalism, is launching a new initiative this fall, providing graduate students in the Master of Science in Strategic Communications the chance to take a new course, Media Management, in a blended format at the Montgomery Campus in Term 1. Students will attend class meetings on the Montgomery Campus three times during the term, with the remaining meetings being offered on online.
“We are excited to partner with the Hall School of Journalism to begin offering Strategic Communication graduate students, who reside in the River Region, this blended opportunity,” said Dr. Lance Tatum, Montgomery Campus vice chancellor. “The blended option at TROY Montgomery allows students who desire the flexibility of online education, to also experience the social aspect of an in-class experience. This format truly allows the student to ‘blend’ the best of both worlds.”
Offered through the University’s Hall School of Journalism and Communication, the program has been ranked as the seventh best master’s in communication program online by AffordableColleges.com. The 30-semester hour program appeals to professionals across various disciplines seeking to add the skills of effective communication and creating solutions to challenging communication issues, which are recognized as valued and critical to professional success in all major professions. In addition, students will gain knowledge in emerging communication technologies, crisis communication management and the strategic use of social media in an innovative communication environment.
“The Hall School of Journalism and Communication’s Master of Science Degree Program in Strategic Communication is excited that it will branch out onto the Montgomery campus in Fall 2017,” said Dr. Jeff Spurlock, director of the Hall School. “The MS Degree Program in Strategic Communication has seen much success over the years as a strictly online program. Now, with one of the classes being offered ‘live’ in Montgomery, this will hopefully strengthen the enrollment. Plans are in the works for other courses in the program to be offered on the Montgomery Campus soon.”
Registration for Term 1 classes is ongoing on the Montgomery Campus with classes beginning Aug. 14. For additional information concerning admissions, call 334-241-5407.
