More than 100 runners gathered Saturday morning in front of John Robert Lewis Hall for the Turkey Trot 5K race through Troy University’s campus, which Tau Upsilon Alpha (TUA) hosted.
“Our goal is to establish this as an annual tradition, whether by continuing to support the scholarship or using the proceeds to address other meaningful needs,” said Amber Rae Steen, president of TUA.
Proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit the Owen Wayne Lewis Memorial Scholarship, which supports first-generation students majoring in social work, human services, hospitality, tourism, or event management.
To contribute to the cause, donations can be made online at donate.troy.edu by designating them for the Owen Wayne Lewis Memorial Endowed Scholarship.
