Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance offers children a chance to shine in the spotlight.

A group of children are getting to show off their creative side Troy University‘s Department of Theatre and Dance‘s annual Summer Spotlight Creative Drama camp this week.

Campers ranging in age from four to seven are taking part in a week long camp that, according to counselors, not only teaches them about theater but allows the kids to channel their energy creatively.

“It is a week every summer that kids get to spend a week creatively expressing themselves,” says Lead Counselor Caitlin Hicks. “Learning different movements through creativity and doing different stage crafts. Learning about props. Learning about the theater without any intention of turning them into child stars or child actors. It’s just a chance for them to get to use all that great energy that kids have and play and redirect it through a creative outlet.”
