New coach, new field, new season for the Trojan Soccer team.

With a new coach, a new field and a new year, new seems to be the theme for this year’s trojan soccer squad.

Headed into the season after the delays and cancellations last year due to COVID the team is anxious to get back out onto the field.

“I know it’s really exciting,” says Head Coach Nicole Waters. “As many people know last year was a COVID year so it wasn’t a real season, so these girls are definitely ready to come into this fall and have a real actual season where we’re playing almost 20 games and hoping to have a successful conference tournament this year.”

Waters takes over the reigns this year as interim head coach after serving as an assistant for two years. She was named to the position less than a month ago on July 26th but she thinks the team has done a good job of adjusting in such a short time.

“I’ve been very fortunate that they’ve adapted very well to me becoming the new head coach,” says Waters. “I was lucky that I already knew all of the girls on the team and even the incoming players I was familiar with all of them before they got here. So, it made the transition for me from assistant to head coach pretty easy and smooth.”
