Troy University adds new scholarships for transfer students

Troy University is offering transfer students new financial opportunities through a scholarship program that will be available to students looking to transfer to TROY starting this fall.

“Last fall we took a look at our funding, our availability for our scholarships for our transfer students we rebuilt those just to offer some better financial support for those students,” says Assistant Director of Enrollment Services Korrie Lynn Williamson. “This can be for any of the community college students within the state of Alabama, outside of the state, it can also be for students that are at four-year institutions. Primarily our focus is those community college students. We want them to finish their degree at the community college they’re at and then, of course, transfer to TROY become Trojan and have that financial support.”

The new scholarships are open to transfer students starting classes in Fall or Term 1 2022. The full slate of scholarships available to transfer students now includes:

  • $1,000 per year for 2 years for students with a 2.50 – 2.74 GPA
  • $2,000 per year for 2 years for students with a 2.75 – 2.99 GPA
  • $3,000 per year for 2 years for students with a 3.00 – 3.49 GPA
  • $4,000 per year for 2 years for students with a 3.5 + GPA

TROY is also offering another scholarship for members of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. A $5,000 scholarship is available to a single student from every community college location in the state.

“We really realize that there’s a high importance for our students that are in Phi Theta Kappa, which is the community college honor society, to have an advantage when it comes to scholarships so we started offering that as well,” says Williamson. “We will offer 40 of those. So essentially a student will be eligible for that as long as they are a member of Phi Theta Kappa.”
