Office of Civic Engagement leads student discussion on Gun Rights and Gun Control

The topic of gun control has been a prominent issue in America for many years and, on Thursday, Troy University students gave their thoughts on the subject matter in a group discussion held by TROY’s Office of Civic Engagement.

In today’s world the topic of gun rights easily leads to tension and heated conversations.

“There’s just so many different opinions about it and so much misinformation,” says TROY Freshman Katelyn McDaniel.

But for Troy students the objective remained positive with students learning about beliefs of others.

“Just to kind of show them some other perspectives,” says Presenter Emma Ellis. “Kind of get people out of that confirmation bias that we’re so accustomed to these days and share other perspectives and hopefully find some kind of common ground.”
