Greek organizations compete, Mr. and Ms. Trojan Pride revealed during pep rally

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Students packed into Trojan Arena for this year’s Homecoming Pep Rally.

With this year’s matchup against the Arkansas Red Wolves being just one day away, anticipation has reached an all-time high.

“My favorite part is probably the pep rally,” said Kappa Delta sophomore Ashley Alexander. “It’s just exciting to see everyone get hyped up for the game this Saturday.”

The rally also allowed students to score off against each other in fun games. The games helped TROY’s sororities and fraternities gain points for this year’s homecoming competition.

“That goes towards points for some organizations to win homecoming,” Homecoming Committee Director Abigail Grantham.

“Homecoming draws alumni back to TROY, but new students also got in on the fun.

“I’ve never actually been a part of any other homecoming so just being able to see the TROY experience, I’ve kind of loved every second of it,” said freshman Basil Smith. “All my friends were going and I heard that the band was going to be here and the Sound of the South always brings a lot of pep to the step.”

Additionally, Mr. and Ms. Trojan Pride were revealed. There were 17 candidates in all but that group was narrowed down to the two winners Derrick Nobles and and Shalyn Merida.
