TROY Women’s Basketball stands tall against Appalachian State

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Last week Trojan Arena was the sight of a midweek showdown between the Mountaineers of Appalachian State and the TROY Trojans.

TROY came out blazing as it jumped out to a nine to nothing lead, never looked back and won the game 102-69.

The night was highlighted by double-double performances for Ja’mia “Stixx” Hollings and Zay Dyer, but they players say they didn’t do it on their own.

“It was a team win for sure. We were all there for each other tonight,” Dyer told TrojanVision.

Even though it was an exciting night in Trojan Arena, Coach Chanda Rigby believes there is more to come for the Trojans.

“They all want to win and they all depend on each other. We say it all the time when we look down there every night, it needs to look like we’re playing for a championship. We’re playing for a ring that night the way our bench is excited.”

As the tournament approaches, Hollings is working to help the team maintain focus.

“I’m always talking and encouraging my teammates, putting little words in their ears,” Hollings said. “I like to keep everything going optimistic.”

With this win, the Trojans have completed the season sweep of the Mountaineers while also pushing their overall win streak to six games.
