TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy Women’s Basketball received a few preseason recognitions heading into the upcoming season.
The Trojans received second place in preseason poll for the second straight season.
“I thought that was a generous vote because we’re the team with the least amount of returners and we can use that with our players, saying that you’re writing your own story,” said Head Coach Chanda Rigby. “It’s their big time now to come out and they have every resource here and every opportunity to end their story the best way possible.
“That’s what we’re fighting for.”
As preseason recognition continues, guard Shaulana Wagner received Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team while forward Zay Dyer was selected for the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team.

“I am blessed to even be recognized, but now I know that I need to step it up because third doesn’t match up with my abilities and talents,” said forward Zay Dyer. “I’m going to keep putting the work in and doing what I need to do to make that first team.”
The Trojans are preparing for the 2024-2025 season with an improved roster. Nine out of the 12 Trojans on the team are newcomers coming from the transfer portal.
“Last year, we were all just kind of running and leaping very athletic good post players,” Rigby said. “We have some of those this year, like Zay Dyer, but we also have specialists and that’s one of the reasons I say we are very optimistic.”
Looking back, Troy ended its 2023-2024 season ranking in the top two within the conference for assist ratio, rebounds and scoring.
Dyer and Wagner are two of the three returning players for the team. The Trojans will be in action Nov. 4 to mark their season-opener.
