TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — With classes cancelled due to weather, Troy students got to enjoy a weather phenomenon.

“I looked out the window and saw snow everywhere,” said sophomore TJ Watkins.

“I didn’t believe it was going to snow,” said junior Colby Dehoff. “I was at Walmart, and all of a sudden, it started snowing really hard. It was surprising because I wasn’t expecting it.”

This snow day came with a mix of surprise and excitement for many students.

“When I first woke up and looked out the window, there was no snow, so I was sad and disappointed,” said junior Kaylee Traylor. “I took a shower, and when I got out and looked again, it was covered in snow. That really shocked me.”

“When I got outside, it was snowing a lot, so I was really surprised,” said junior Nora Hollinghead. “I didn’t think it would snow at all, so I was really glad it was.”

Whether it was with a snowball fight, making snow angels, or even snowmen, students made sure to take advantage of their snow day.

“We walked to the quad to look at the snow, made snow angels, and hopefully make a snowman later,” said Dehoff.

For some students, this is the first time in a long time that they’ve seen snow like this.

“I’m from Montgomery, so I haven’t seen snow since I was nine years old,” said Watkins. “When we do get snow, it doesn’t stick. I haven’t ever made a snowball.”

“I think I was thirteen the last time it snowed,” said Traylor.

After campus closed due to weather for most of the week, classes resumed Friday. Students agreed that this snow day was a nice break from their usual routine.
