TROY Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Wednesday morning, Troy University officials announced that the College of Education and the College of Communications and Fine Arts would be undergoing name changes and reorganization.
The colleges will be renamed the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, and the College of Fine Arts and Humanities, respectively.
This renaming comes as a result of the reorganization caused by the creation of the College of Science and Engineering, which saw the Colleges of Arts and Sciences split in two.
All degrees classified as hard sciences were made a part of the College of Science and Engineering, while all arts and soft science degrees in the program were moved to either the College of Fine Arts and Humanities, or the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.

Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Dr. Kerry Palmer explained the thought process behind the split of programs.
“We were recently approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education to offer the university’s first engineering program. We felt that that was a significant enough change to reorganize our academic colleges and coalesce together the hard sciences and engineering. It gave us an opportunity to really look and see where the academic programs at Troy should really be housed, and so now they’re housed more alike than they were before. We that that will help with communication as well.”
These name changes will officially take place on Aug. 1, 2025.
