Meet Troy Athletics’ superfan, Austin Turner

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — TROY has many fans that attend its sporting events, but not one as loyal as Austin Turner.

Austin has been attending almost every type of TROY sporting event for many years. It started with the season ticket pass.

“I like basketball, baseball, football, soccer, softball,” Austin told TrojanVision.

“Got some season tickets for football, and he just fell in love with it,” said Norma Davis, Austin’s mother. “It’s just been a thing growing every year.”

There’s no doubt that Austin has made connections with fans from all over the Troy community, but his spirit and Trojan pride is what gets people excited, even the players.

“His consistent energy and love for Troy, you can always see him,” said Trojan Baseball pitcher Grayson Stewart. “He’s always going to be in a jersey. He’s always going to be in the stands firing up the crowd and waving his hands, pumping them up, saying ‘let’s go’.”

The love the Troy community has shown Austin is one of the many reasons why people love college sports. It brings out the best in people.

“I do think it does speak very highly of the Troy community that these people are willing to take their time out of their day to conversate with this stranger who is such a genuine person,” said Troy cheerleader Kinley Copen.

The connections Austin has made with coaches, players, fans, and T-Roy are ones that fans say will last a lifetime.
