IMPACT leaders prepare to welcome incoming freshmen to campus

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — IMPACT leaders are preparing to welcome a new batch of students.

Each year, hundreds of students come to Troy for the university’s new student orientation, IMPACT. IMPACT leaders are often some of the first faces new students see once they arrive. With that being said, leaders hope to make a good impact on the new students

“I cant wait to see the smile on their faces, and go into the next part of their life,” said IMPACT leader Kent Wilson.

Being an IMPACT leader is a major responsibility. Leaders begin training around two weeks after the spring semester ends. During their training, leaders learn about each of the university’s colleges, meet with university leadership, and learn how to answer new students’ frequently-asked questions.

Once orientation sessions begin, the leaders remain on Troy’s campus throughout the summer, work two separate sessions per week (each two days long), and also facilitate transfer students’ one-day IMPACT sessions.

Despite the responsibility, many leaders say they want to help usher in a new batch of students into the Troy University family.

“I wanted to foster the same sense of welcoming and the sense of family that I was given as a freshmen,” said Caden Walker.

“Truly, I just want to bring everybody into our Trojan family,” said Anthony Boyer.

This year’s IMPACT leaders are Annabelle Adkins, Anthony Boyer, Jonah Cobb, Laney Kelley, Morgan McMillan, Sarah Morgan, Anna Cate Potts, Caleb Smith, Zara Smith, Caden Walker, Annsley Wallace, Ethan Waters, Andrew Wells and Kent Wilson.

IMPACT begins in June and lasts through July.
