TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Troy University students came together for a movie night under the stars.
This year’s Movies at the Tipton, which is a nod to Troy’s Welcome Week theme “The Suite Life of Troy,” gave students free popcorn, a chance to relax, and a showing of Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach” movie.
“I’m super excited,” freshman Isabelle Padgett said. “It’s so cool that we’re on the field and a bunch of my sorority sisters are here. So, it’s going to be so fun to sit with them and maybe even meet new people.”
The event is one of many Welcome Week activities designed to bring students together, especially those who are new to campus.

“I hope that they meet new people maybe or just see things they never seen,” Welcome Week President Abigail Gilliand. “A lot of people never get to come on the Vet at all. They just see it from the stands. Now they can actually see it from down here, get a good view of it, kind of feel like they’ve seen more parts of Troy, like the campus, than they usually have.”
From popcorn to sing-along moments, Movies at the Tipton gave students more than just a film, it gave them memories. Students say that they enjoyed the event and are excited for more welcome week events to come.
