TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The History Club and Economics Club teamed up to teach students about economics around the world.

The History Club members host weekly events, including academic presentations meant to educate their classmates.

The collaboration with the Economics Club has been a goal for the History Club.

“We were wanting to partner with other clubs; that was one of our main goals as an officer team going into this year,” said History Club President, Matilda Ziegler. “We partnered with Econ Club, and we just thought that would be a great collaboration. That was something I personally did not know a lot about before tonight.

“It was great to hear from Kiera give a presentation on Denmark, it was great to create a presentation about North Korea as well, and for Abby Anderson, the president of the Econ Club, it was great to learn from her game as well.”

Each presentation night focuses on a different historical topic.

Wednesday night’s presentation focused on specific countries and how their governments affect their economic societies. Along with the presentations, there was a Kahoot quiz regarding economic policies for different presidents.

“We have a wide variety of presentations; we do have a lot of roundtable discussions, such as this one,” Ziegler explained. “We try to be about 50/50 with fun, social events such as board game night, movie nights, trivia nights, and then academic historical discussions such as the one we had tonight.”

Future History Club presentations will be throughout the semester, including topics such as civil rights history and a roundtable discussion on Latin American history.
