Troy Soccer finishes season with loss to South Alabama

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — After losing its last three games, the Trojan soccer team tried to spark things up for their last game on Senior Night.

The three seniors, Nittany Vega, Sarah Cramer, and Jiselle Daniels, all celebrated prior to the game.

“She, [Jiselle], is just a big influence and, obviously, Sarah has also had experience at U Mass and Nittany has been here since I’ve been here,” said Stuart Gore, Head Coach. “Having Jiselle’s leadership, and Nittany experience of being here, it was great for them to have their day in the sunshine.”

As the celebration closed, the Trojans took the field and started off strong with a couple of crosses making their way towards south. However, a lob over a Trojan defender would put Zamiyah Hill near the six as she volleyed it top right into the back of net, putting South up, 1-nil.

Both teams would find themselves at a stalemate for the rest of the half, but the start of the second would bring some heat to the cold night as the Trojans crept near the 18. Cady Cash would add fuel to this flame as she came up with two stunning saves, one of them coming from a penalty kick.

“I got to tip my hat to cady cash making the penalty save and the one where the kid tried to lob her, and she’s also banged up, she’s also injured so,” Gore said.

Even after numerous attempts on goal, the Trojans just were not able to equalizing, and would come up just short losing zero to one to South.

“We’re just a really young team,” Gore said. “Without our two best players and Taylor Richards and Jiselle for 60 percent of the conference games. I think if you do that to any team in our conference they’re going to have a different team.”
