See how Troy baseball grew community support leading up to the NCAA Super Regionals

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Ever since Troy won its last baseball game in Gainesville and entered the NCAA Super Regional, excitement in town has been growing.

“I’ve been here going on fifteen years and I haven’t seen anything like this before, so it’s honestly super exciting to see,” said Dustin McFarland, Manager at Pawn Express.

“People are super ecstatic about Troy hosting their very first super regional ever, so that alone has everybody excited,” said Ethan Barnes, Pastry Chef at BSweet Bakery.

What makes this series so exciting? It’s one that Troy has never been a part of before. Mayor Jason Reeves said he understands just how important this game is.

“It’s hard to put it into perspective because we’ve had other opportunities at different levels,” Reeves told TrojanVision. “But this is the ultimate level of competition. With the NCAA and being at the precipice of the college world series, it’s historic for the school, the community and everyone affiliated with Troy University.”

That’s why Reeves is calling on the community to show its support. Downtown Troy is one of the biggest places where it has grown.

“It’s just an outward sign of how inwardly excited everyone is and wants to show their support.”

Show their support they will be, as attendance for the games is expected to be record-breaking.

“Of course, I love seeing Troy go out and winning everything,” McFarland said.
