Troy University’s campus comes to life as students begin new semester

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — From the quad and the dorms to the academic buildings, students swarmed Troy’s campus on Wednesday as they hustled to start their first classes of the semester.

Some new faces on campus are excited to get this semester underway.

“The first day of classes has been great,” said freshman Gabby Dean. “I really like all my professors so far. I am excited to see how the semester goes. “

“The first day has been good,” said freshman Kiavani Palmer. “Everybody that I have met so far is very nice and friendly. Then, all the professors, I really like them.”

For many returning students, they are ready and happy to see their friends they haven’t seen in the last three months.

“I miss them so much,” said sophomore Sumira Duncan. “I have been bored without them.”

“Awesome,” said sophomore Valincya Davis I’ve been having fun ever since I got here.”

But what are most students excited about?

“Basketball and volleyball games because they won a lot of the basketball games [last season],” said sophomore Saradha Hudspeth. “I want to be a part of that.”

“Definitely football games,” Duncan said.

With one student counting down the days for two specific matchups for the Men of Troy.

“Alabama State game and South [Alabama], I am very excited,” Davis said.

However, for one student, the most exciting thing for him this school year isn’t football games, but something all the way in May

“Graduating and finally being done,” said grad student Clark Smith. “Other than that, for now I’m studying for the CPA exam and passing it.

Be it a graduate student going for their master’s or a first-time Trojan, many Troy students seem ready and ecstatic to get this school year underway.

Along with the first day of classes, come different events and activities held on campus to welcome students back. We’ll have coverage of these events in the coming week.
