A nationwide effort designed to fight hunger in America made its way to Troy University on Thursday afternoon.

Troy University was a stop on Hunger Free America’s anti-hunger tour presented by CEO Joel Berg to address food insecurity around the nation.

Hunger Free America is a nationwide anti-hunger advocacy and direct service organization that develops policies and programs to end hunger in America.

Berg is traveling the nation to highlight programs including the Troy University’s Office of Civic Engagement’s Americorps VISTA.

“This is my 20th year with the organization and I’m marking my 20th year by traveling to, I think, 20 to 24 states over eight thousand miles, including here in Troy, Alabama, to really highlight how persistent the hunger problem is but also to highlight great programs like our VISTA Americorps program that we have in partnership between Hunger Free America, the federal government and Troy University,” says Berg.
