TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — The University Activities Council (UAC) hosted over a hundred students during its recent pumpkin painting.
“We bought around 300 pumpkins and all of them were gone,” said Tayjo Oppong. “There are still people that are asking for some so it’s really a good feeling because we put a lot of effort into organizing these events so it’s really great when we see a big turnout like this.”
Oppong believes events like these are important for students to experience in their time here at Troy.
“We host these events so that students get a chance to not only find a break in between school because stresses you a lot, but it gives them a chance to form a deeper connection with the university they attend.”
Freshman Noah Russel has been taking advantage of as many opportunities as he can.

“I’m a part of Freshman Forum and it gets me involved on campus,” Russel said. “It’s really fun and I’ve met a lot of new people so I’ve got my name out on campus and that’s all I can really ask for. I think everyone should get involved and make their time here at Troy memorable and something they won’t regret or forget.”
Out of the nearly 300 pumpkins painted during the event, Russell says there were some standout designs.
“One girl painted like a bunch of hearts and stuff around it and there have been a couple just like Troy themed pumpkins; someone even did T-Roy which is pretty cool.”
Of course this event isn’t the only one students get to enjoy this fall.
“Upcoming ones would be Oktoberfest that’s going to be on Saturday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the square. There’s also going to be a casino night which is happening next week.”
Although though students are now in the second half of the semester there is no shortage of time or opportunity for involvement.
