Troy University is partnering with EdVisorly to help guide transfer students and streamline their path to graduation.

EdVisorly is an artificial intelligence-powered platform created to support students currently in community college to eventually transfer to four-year colleges and universities successfully. The company’s mission is to clarify pathways for transfer students with the usage of AI so that they are transparent, easily accessible and achievable for any and all students, while also helping them focus their time into their current community college studies.

EdVisorly plans to carry out their mission by working directly with colleges, universities and state systems to help improve their processes within the transfer, reverse transfer and dual enrollment areas. With confidence, students will obtain access to uploading their academic transcripts, receive automated course evaluations for transfer credit equivalencies and explore many different scenarios to help guide them throughout their pathway.

Troy University began innovating their transfer systems in the late 1980s, as they became the first institution in Alabama to apply a computerized advising system using advanced technology. Since this time, Troy University has upheld their image for being a transfer-friendly institution, and this Pilot Project is just a continuation of the tradition that TROY has for committing to the success of its student body.

“To me, this new partnership means that Troy University is continuing its legacy as a trailblazer in uplifting transfer student success within the State of Alabama,” said Dr. Blake Bedsole, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management. “By leading the way as the first four-year university to participate in the pilot program partnership with Alabama Transfers and EdVisorly, TROY is setting the standard for further streamlining the transfer process for students that begin their college journey at Alabama community colleges. Troy University is cementing its standing as a thought leader in the transfer student success space.”

During their continuance of this innovation, the State of Alabama will aim to become the first state in the entire nation to apply a fully-AI powered transfer system. This Pilot Project for this system will initially launch in partnership with Troy University and three community colleges: Enterprise State Community College (ESCC), Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (LBWCC) and Wallace Community College-Dothan (WCC).

This initial phase will come at zero cost for any participating public institution, including Troy University, and it will work to confirm the overall accuracy, operation efficiency and effectiveness before they begin extensive expansion to additional universities and any other remaining Alabama community colleges, as expected over the next five years.

“As an early adopter, Troy University will be uniquely positioned during the pilot phase,” said Dr. Keith Sessions, executive director of Alabama Transfers. “For the initial period, students using the system will see transfer pathways exclusively aligned with TROY until additional four-year institutions are onboarded. This provides Troy University with a distinct strategic advantage in visibility and transfer enrollment growth.”

The Pilot Program will represent the creation of much clearer, faster and student-centered ways to experience the transfer process. This will be done through streamlining processes to reduce steps and minimize time, guided planning to help track academic course requirements and strengthening coordination between institutions, which will all support an overall reduction of confusion for any and all students.

The Pilot Phase will undergo several enrollment cycles to ensure everything involved has been tested, refined and optimized to the best of its ability. There will also be opportunities for each institution to provide feedback, which will continue the growth of system and performance and user experience.
