The seventh annual Giving Day has a set goal of raising $300K.

Troy University is calling on all friends of TROY to help raise $300,000 in support of scholarships, athletics and academics during the seventh annual Giving Day, set for Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“A financial gift to TROY demonstrates to our students that we have supporters who care deeply about education, specifically a college education at Troy University,” said William Filmore, Vice Chancellor of Government and External Relations. “Every donation counts and will help us achieve our goal. We are very thankful for the support we have received in the past, and I am confident that our alumni and friends of Troy University are ready to make this Giving Day successful again.”

More than $20,000 in matching funds are available throughout the day with specific matches available for Trojan Warriors, Army and Air Force ROTC programs, Sorrell College of Business, the Wilson-Williams Student Emergency Fund and various scholarships. Additionally, several alumni chapters have all issued challenges to benefit scholarships. Details of each of these challenges can be found at troy.edu/oneday.

Stay up-to-date through social media and email on October 8 for announcements about matching funds. Gifts can be designated to the donor’s area of interest— including numerous scholarships, athletics, academic colleges and departments or student activities.

“Giving is important because it provides extra financial support to our students and academic programs. Giving Day is a great way to offer this financial support and bring our alumni and friends together, uniting them in the TROY spirit!” said Sydney Owen, Director of Annual Giving and Special Projects. “When you engage in more ways, like giving back financially, you are opening the door to forming connections with current students and contributing to the growth of Troy University. I hope alumni and friends of TROY will consider participating in this year’s Giving Day and give a gift to an area that has greatly impacted their lives.”

TROY students are also encouraged to take part in Giving Day with the “Students Step Up” campaign to support the Trojan Pantry and Student Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship

The best way to contribute to Giving Day is by going online to troy.edu/oneday to make a tax-deductible gift via the secure website.

In addition to making a gift, Trojans everywhere can support Giving Day by spreading the word on social media using the hashtag #TROYGivingDay or by signing up to be an Ambassador. Ambassadors help broaden the reach of Giving Day by emailing, sharing, forwarding and posting their referral link and what they love most about TROY to help create excitement to “Lead Change.”
