Troy University is excited to announce the addition of Whitney Bowers as the Communications Coordinator for the College of Communication and Fine Arts (CCFA) in the Office of University Relations.
Bowers first came to work for TROY’s marketing department in 2023 as a multimedia content specialist. Before that, she worked as a news producer for almost four years with the NBC affiliate in Montgomery, WSFA 12 News.
A native of West Melbourne, Fla., Bowers earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2017. She would go on to earn her Master of Science in Strategic Communication in 2019 while serving as a graduate assistant in TROY’s Athletic Department.
Bowers is the daughter of two Troy State alumni, Tim Hartselle and Mindy (Whitney) Hartselle, who met while in the Sound of the South marching band. She married fellow TROY graduate and Brantley native, Joseph Bowers, in 2016 and together they have two children.
“TROY has been a part of my life for so long and I am thankful to have this opportunity to write and share stories about the people that make it so wonderful,” she said. “I believe that TROY is a special place for students to thrive and I look forward to working alongside the Dean, Dr. Michael Thrasher, department heads and faculty to elevate CCFA in all its endeavors”
In her new role, Bowers will facilitate CCFA’s internal and external communication efforts.
“We are excited to have Whitney as a member of our communications team,” said Andy Ellis, Director of Communication. “Whitney is a two-time TROY graduate and comes from a family of TROY alumni. As such, she brings the knowledge, skills and passion to this role that I believe will serve Troy University and the College of Communications and Fine Arts well.”
