The Sorrell College of Business has partnered with Student-Made Store, a customizable shopping platform for student entrepreneurs, to provide Troy University student creators with an exclusive selling outlet both online and in-person in downtown Troy.

Student-Made Store focuses on partnering with innovative spaces on college and university campuses to build an entirely student-run platform for creative entrepreneurs. The partnership was a no brainer for Troy University IDEA Bank, which shares a similar mission.

“Opening a storefront at the IDEA Bank is something I have been working on for years now, but we simply haven’t had the capacity to operationalize it until now,” said Lynne George, Director of the Troy University IDEA Bank. “We have so many talented and creative entrepreneurs that are seeking outlets to sell their unique products and the Student-Made partnership will allow us to provide that for them.”

Natalie Bryant, Assistant Dean for the Sorrell College of Business, was drawn to Student-Made because it is made by students for students.

“The program is 100 percent student-run, meaning that in addition to the creators and vendors, all store managers will be students. Student-Made will provide us with a well-rounded solution for growing student entrepreneurs’ customer bases and providing meaningful business experience for those building careers,” she said.

The Student-Made Shop at Troy will be the first in Alabama and the brick-and-mortar store at the downtown IDEA Bank will be the first Student-Made Storefront of its kind, as the platform traditionally operates as an online store with supplemental pop-up shops.

Student-Made Co-Founder and CEO Lindsay Reeth called the company “a movement.”

“We work to foster a dynamic environment where campus communities rally behind student entrepreneurs, broadening their reach and sparking engagement at universities nationwide,” she said.

Both the online and downtown store will launch in September 2024. Student-Made Troy and Sorrell College are currently seeking students who are interested in becoming a featured creator in the store (either online or in person at the IDEA Bank) as well as students interested in joining the Student-Made Manager team. The management team is made up of seven students, including a Campus Manager, a Website Manager, a Social Media Manager, a Content Creator, an Events & Partnerships Manager, a Community Engagement Manager, and a Finance & Strategy Manager. Current students who are interested in becoming a creator or manager can apply here:

“This partnership is going to elevate the level of support that the IDEA Bank can provide to TROY students, and I am excited about the engagement opportunity it will bring for our campus community, local community, and beyond,” said George.
