Troy University students who are interested in becoming Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) now have an exciting new opportunity, thanks to a unique partnership with Rutgers University. Through this collaboration, third-year Nutrition Program students at TROY can apply for early acceptance into Rutgers University’s Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition. This initiative provides a clear pathway for students to advance their education and careers seamlessly.

Early Acceptance

With the early acceptance deadline set for May 31, 2025, students who are admitted will secure a spot in the Fall 2026 cohort. The program is designed with flexibility in mind, offering a distance-based and hybrid learning model. Each week, students will participate in live virtual class sessions while also engaging in hands-on experiential learning within healthcare settings. This structure ensures that students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical training.

One of the most significant advantages of this program is its accessibility to students, regardless of their location. Since Rutgers has established clinical agreements across various regions, students can complete their internships in their own communities. By combining rigorous academic coursework with real-world experience, the program effectively prepares graduates to meet the increasing demand for skilled nutrition professionals.

New Partnership

“This partnership gives our students a competitive edge in the field of dietetics,” said Dr. Teresa Johnson, BS Nutrition Program Coordinator. “Like most other healthcare professions, becoming an RDN now requires a graduate degree. This partnership with Rutgers provides an incredible opportunity for qualifying TROY students to earn a graduate degree from a prestigious university while staying in their local areas.”

For students eager to pursue a rewarding career in nutrition, this Rutgers & TROY collaboration creates a seamless transition from undergraduate studies to advanced training in clinical and preventive nutrition sciences. At Troy University, the Bachelor of Science in Nutrition is offered both online and on-campus. Courses are taught by licensed, registered dietitians who have advanced degrees and extensive clinical experience.
