Troy University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents Master Pieces at the Trojan Center Theater Feb. 22-25 and March 1-3.

Poster for Troy Theatre and Dance production of Master PiecesThe show features a combination of dance, theater, music and visual arts, according to department chair Tori Lee Averett.

“From the classics — ballet, Mozart, Van Gogh, Rumi — to the more modern creations of new up-and-coming artists and choreographers, the blend of old and new creates excitement and energy that we’re sure audiences will love,” Averett said.

The show coincides with the Day of Dance on Saturday, Feb. 24, in which TROY dance faculty, students and guests host free master classes for dance students of all ages.

The diversity of content in “Master Classes” makes it an ideal outing for the general public, according to Averett.

“This is a great opportunity for audiences to enjoy a show with lots of variety, and it’s good for the seasoned dance lover or the newcomer,” she said. “We’re always proud to showcase the immense talent of our Dance students and faculty. “Our dance program is truly a hidden treasure in southeast Alabama, and a competitor on the national and international levels.”

Tickets are $10 for the public and $5 with a TROY student ID, and those interested in attending can purchase tickets online or at the Trojan Center Box Office.
