Troy University’s Graphic Design degree program has earned recognition as one of the nation’s best, according to Niche, an education research website.
TROY was ranked 3rd in Niche’s recently released “Best Colleges with Online Graphic Design Degrees in America.” Niche determines its rankings on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and student reviews. The degree program was offered online for the first time in the fall of 2022 and gives students the freedom and flexibility to work remotely from any location on their own schedule.
“We are proud that TROY continues to be recognized nationally for the quality and value of the education we provide,” said interim Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Judson Edwards. “For students, especially those choosing online education, that recognition reinforces that they can earn a respected TROY degree while balancing work, family and other responsibilities.”
The 41-credit program core covers motion graphics, typography, user interface design, concept and process, and the business of art and design. Students also complete a client-focused design studio course and present a thesis exhibition featuring their original work and research.
“This program has only been in place four years and I can’t wait to see where we are in another ten,” said Associate Chair and Professor Chris Stagl. “It’s inspirational for me to see all of the incredible time and work that faculty and students have put into this program to make it such a success.”
According to Stagl, the program’s faculty, which includes award-winning industry experts, is the aspect students value most.
Stagl added that online faculty go beyond the classroom: “They are their primary contact and first line of defense if they’re having any issues in a class and our online faculty are nothing short of incredible,” he said.
