Dr. Steve Grice, Director of Troy University‘s School of Accountancy, has been named the Sun Belt Conference Faculty of the Year.
Grice was selected from a list of twelve finalists submitted by each of the Sun Belt schools.
“You feel like you make a contribution and do something good to to help these students and to get honored like this it does mean a lot,” says Grice. “It’s like a big pat on the back and it’s neat to to feel like somebody recognized you as doing a good job especially when it’s something that you enjoy doing.”
The award, which is given annually, recognizes a faculty member from each Sun Belt institution who has a passion for teaching engaging and inspiring students while also separating themselves from their peers outside of the classroom by regularly supporting and displaying enthusiasm for the athletics department.
“I’ve always admired the student athletes at TROY,” says Grice. “The things they have to navigate in their academic studies along with the division one athletics it’s a challenge. They have a lot of out of town travel. They have practice schedules. A lot of them they’re practicing when I’m sleeping.”
