Student groups participate in Homecoming Dance Competition

It’s an event that many students look forward to every year, the Homecoming Dance Competition.

Troy University sororities and fraternities begin practicing weeks in advance in an attempt to impress the judges.

“Dance is a great way for students to get involved with Homecoming,” says Student Government Association Executive Vice President Dalton Cates. “It’s a great way for them to to show their passion for their organizations and show their Trojan pride and how much they really care about the theme of homecoming.”

As the first event of Homecoming Week, the dance competition is aimed to get students excited for the events that will follow throughout the week and ultimately the Homecoming Game on Saturday.

“I think just getting everybody in the same area for one event,” says Homecoming Committee Member Jane Vickers. “We talk about Trojan pride and One TROY and just coming here cheering on every group that’s dancing really brings out the spirit throughout the week.”
