Students celebrate female empowerment during Girls Night In

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Women’s History Month is a time for women to celebrate their friendships with other women, which is why one TROY group found a way to get female students together to have fun.

The University Activities Council (UAC) hosted a “Girls Night In” event.

“We were actually supposed to do this for Valentine’s Day, but it didn’t work out so we moved it to this month,” Director of Student Activities Catelyn Blackmon said.

When it came to choosing what movie to watch, organizers picked the film that has become known for its themes of female empowerment.

“We picked this movie because of that,” Blackmon told TrojanVision.

Students were invited to wear their pajamas, watch the movie and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks. Hal Hall was also transformed into a sleepover setting that featured pillows, blankets and pink-themed decorations.
