TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — Changes have been made at TROY TrojanVision thanks to the replacement of a major piece of equipment.
“We’d been using our previous switcher and equipment for like the last 14 years,” said Jeff Herring, executive producer at TrojanVision. “It was installed in 2011, and it was good but it was limited in some of the things that we could do with it.”
The input switcher, which controls what the viewer sees at home, is a key part of how TV stations operate. With the addition of a new switcher, TrojanVision has more opportunities for productions.
“One think we were limited before, only one show per switcher,” Herring explained. “Now with the expansion of this to a new ser, we have the ability to do two shows at the same time, something we could never have done before.”
Not only will the new switcher provide new opportunities for TrojanVision, it also allows students to become more familiar with common technology within the industy.
“This type of technology and this switcher is more in tune with what you’ll find in the professional market, in the professional world,” Herring said. “And so, this gives students the hands on ability to work with this type of environment, this type of technology, before they go out in the real world and have to try to relearn new equipment.”
Along with upgraded hardware, TrojanVision also upgraded many of its on-screen graphics. Program scheduling and channel listing for TrojanVision can be found here.
