Boys of Troy return home from World Series to fans, friends and family

TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION) — After an historic season, the Troy baseball team returned home to Trojan territory and their adoring fans.

A crowd was waiting for the team to arrive back from Omaha with hugs, cheers and words of support.

“No matter what had happened in Omaha, y’all will always be in my heart from day one,” said Julianna Speck, a Troy Baseball fan.

Many community members told TrojanVision they wanted to tell the boys of Troy just how much they enjoyed watching the baseball team make it to the world series.

“Good job,” said Jonathan Sellers, a Troy baseball fan. “It was so much fun to watch what they did and how they represented the community. How they brought this community together. “

As they stepped off of the tour bus, the crowd gathered around to get autographs from players and coaches.

“It’s like everybody is kind of in it together, there’s no difference in player, coach, support staff, fan, administrator,” said Head Coach Skylar Meade. “Everybody is kind of in it together, and so its been more than a collaborative experience.”

Fan support was an aspect that infielder Blake Cavill said help the team throughout season.

“It means everything,” Cavill said. “The fans have showed out all year. Even especially these last few weeks when we’ve been very far away from home.

“Gainesville, even Omaha we had a huge section there,” Cavill said. “Seeing the support everywhere we go is one of a kind and it truly means everything to us.”

Meade told TrojanVision he hopes fans’ support doesn’t let up next year.

“I hope that that spearheads a level of passion that this place has never seen before, long beyond this day. Our job on my side, as coaches, player, and support staff is to keep the ball rolling and I know I’m going to do that,” Meade said.

Trojan Athletics is now urging fans to get ready for next season and to “Step Up to the Plate” by donating to the Troy baseball program.
